MEMORY, MEANING, AND PURPOSE
Hand-made in the United States, Tipsy Threads is founded and designed by Austin Gleason, known mostly as AG. Since its inception in March of 2023, the brand has been defined by intention, craftsmanship, and understated storytelling.
With a background rooted in fashion, retail, and styling, AG has long been attuned to the nuances that set exceptional design apart. He values the precision of fit, the feel of true quality, and the quiet narrative woven into every piece. His approach is instinctive yet considered, shaped by experience and an unwavering attention to detail all crafted by hand.
The idea for the brand began with a single moment on a trip to Turks & Caicos in 2022. While there, AG received the news that his grandmother, Betty Gee McNees, his beloved Nana, had passed away. What was meant to be a vacation became a moment of reflection. In hindsight, the hat purchased on that trip feels intentional, marking the beginning of a brand guided by memory, meaning, and purpose.
The aesthetic of resort living stayed with him. Sunshine, timeless accessories, and effortless style lingered long after the trip ended. So did the desire to elevate it—to refine quality, honor craftsmanship, and design with intention.
Drawing inspiration from his own lifestyle and inner circle, AG began creating pieces that felt personal and enduring. Coastal references, classic neutrals, thoughtful pops of color (his favorite), and subtle nods to sport and leisure came together in designs meant to be worn and kept.
Tipsy Threads was born from that philosophy. The brand creates pieces that feel timeless yet playful, elevated yet approachable. Each design begins with a feeling. Sun-soaked destinations. Lake days unfolding into golden hour. The confidence that comes from wearing something truly well made.
As a quiet signature, every Tipsy Threads hat features three small stitched lines at the top of the hat. This intimate detail honors AG’s Nana and the cute little nickname she gave him, her little booger. It serves as a reminder that memory, meaning, and purpose are stitched into every piece.
Today, AG works side by side with a close knit team of six who have become family. Tipsy Threads can now be found in hundreds of retailers, including boutiques, resorts, and country clubs across the United States, the Virgin Islands, and select destinations in the Bahamas.
